A focus in entrepreneurship

The objective of this tour to understand the different courses offered at VETA and the challenges and aspirations for the girls studying there. It was a very educative tour.

One of the features noted was the low number of girls attempting the male dominated courses like electrical engineering, construction, and printing. Example- In the electrical unit there are 200 students of whom 7 are female; Electronics 35 students of whom 3 are ladies. In the tailoring and Hairdressing these were predominantly ladies. In construction- painting unit 5 ladies and plumbing there are 2 ladies.

VoWET’s President and other members had the opportunity to speak with the women fraternity of the management as well as the female students. The key message was that they should remove their focus from being employed and rather focus on entrepreneurship. There was also a question and answer session.
